Boehly Resigns: Chelsea Gets New Boss

There is a significant change in the leadership of Chelsea FC.

As announced by the club, Todd Boehly is stepping down from his role as Chelsea boss. The American's shares will be acquired by the Clearwater Group.

After acquiring further significant shares from another stakeholder, the group now has full control over the club.

Expenditure Exceeding Two Billion Euros

Boehly joined Chelsea FC with Clearwater in 2022. The then long-time club owner Roman Abramovich had to sell the "Blues" at the time due to Russia's war of aggression in Ukraine.

Under Boehly's leadership, the Londoners invested heavily in new players. Since the takeover, they have spent over 250 million Euros on new signings each season. In total, they signed players for over two billion Euros during this period.

In these four years, the club won the UEFA Conference League once and the FIFA Club World Cup once.

Boehly says about his time at Chelsea: "It has been an honour to serve as Chairman of Chelsea Football Club. I would like to thank all those who have contributed to securing a promising future for the club, including the English Premier League, the coaches and players, the talented executives and staff of Chelsea, and the countless loyal fans."

Boehly is also stepping down from Chelsea's partner club, Racing Strasbourg.
