A huge weight off the shoulders of Oliver Glasner and Xaver Schlager!

On Matchday 10 of the Premier League, crisis-hit Nottingham Forest secure a sensational 3-1 victory over Manchester City.

Xaver Schlager plays the full 90 minutes for the "Tricky Trees" and provides the assist for 2-0.

Early lead shocks City

Right from the start, the hosts show more bite in the tackles, taking the game to the heavy favorites.

Gvardiol tries an unnecessary dribble deep in his own half; pushed-up center-back Jair Cunha nips in, wins the ball, marches into the penalty box, and finishes coolly like a seasoned striker for an early lead (6').

It is the "Tricky Trees'" first home goal of the season. Nottingham fans had previously waited 456 minutes to see Glasner's side score.

Schlager sets up 2-0

City dictate play afterwards, but Nottingham lie in wait to counter-attack and remain a constant threat.

Schlager wins the ball at the halfway line and immediately feeds Liam Delap. Nottingham's record signing powerfully drives into the opposition box and smashes the ball past Donnarumma into the underside of the crossbar (18').

It is the first Premier League goal contribution for assist-provider Schlager. Just two minutes later, McAtee even has the chance to make it 3-0 (20').

Just before the break, superstar Erling Haaland is almost turning away to celebrate. Nottingham keeper Sels is already beaten, but the impressive Jair Cunha prevents a goal back for the "Sky Blues" with a superb goal-line clearance (41').

Quick goal back after the break

Enzo Maresca reacts to the 2-0 halftime scoreline with a double substitution. O'Reilly and Nunes come on for Gvardiol and Guehi.

Seven minutes after the restart, Cherki reduces the deficit to 2-1 with a powerful strike. The guests are much improved now and press for an immediate second. Haaland narrowly misses the target following a cross from Ndiaye (57'). Moments later, Murillo clears at the last second ahead of the former Salzburg striker (59').

Against the run of play in the second half, Nottingham stretch their lead in the 73rd minute. Gibbs-White sets up Delap, who strikes from the edge of the box and scores off the inside of the post to make it 3-1 with his second goal of the night. Head coach Glasner can no longer contain himself on the touchline, joining his team's wild celebrations.

No further goals follow, meaning Glasner's side secure a 3-1 victory against the clear favorites to celebrate a hugely important triumph.

Nottingham climb out of relegation zone

With their second win of the season, the "Tricky Trees" climb out of the automatic relegation places, moving temporarily up to 16th.

Despite suffering a third straight league defeat, the "Citizens" remain second, but drop crucial points and now trail leaders Arsenal by six points.
