For Newcastle United, with coach Matthias Jaissle and former Salzburg player Amar Dedic, the journey in the Carabao Cup Round of 16 against Everton has come to an end.

The "Toffees" prevailed 3-1 against Newcastle United on Thursday evening. Garner (34th minute), Hackney (45th), and Barry (69th) scored for Everton, while Burn (88th) scored for Newcastle.

Everton without Grealish

ManCity loanee Jack Grealish was absent from the Everton squad for disciplinary reasons, as the club announced before kick-off. According to "Sky", the midfielder had missed a training session in preparation for the cup match.

The 31-year-old was already absent from the Premier League match against Arsenal last weekend, officially due to illness.

Without Grealish, Everton set themselves on the path to victory already in the first half. Before the 1-0 lead by Garner (34th), Dedic lost possession while attempting to clear the ball. Hackney made it 2-0 before halftime (45th), and Barry increased the lead to 3-0 (69th). The visitors only managed a consolation goal through Burn (88th).

Everton will face fourth-tier side Fleetwood Town in the quarter-finals in December, who recently knocked Arsenal out of the competition on penalties.
