Danso Scores in Tottenham Win with First Touch
The Austrian international scores his first goal for the Spurs in the EFL Cup against Charlton Athletic.
Kevin Danso can celebrate a very special achievement in the Tottenham Hotspur shirt.
The Austrian international scores his first goal for the Premier League club in the first round of the English EFL Cup during the Spurs' 5-1 victory against second-tier Charlton Athletic.
Danso Scores with First Touch
Tottenham already took a double lead in the closing stages of the first half. Mikey Moore put the Spurs on track in the 42nd minute, and Dominic Solanke added another just before halftime (45.).
Danso was finally substituted on in the 65th minute – and needed just two minutes for his first goal in a Tottenham shirt.
After a free-kick from Mateus Fernandes, the Austrian rose high and powerfully headed the ball into the net to make it 3-0. It is Danso's first goal in his 53rd competitive match for the Spurs, for whom he has been playing since February 2025.
However, during his headed goal, the 27-year-old collided with an opponent and subsequently had to receive treatment for a head injury. Danso was able to continue.
Strong Performance Despite Short Playing Time
Even apart from his goal, Danso left a strong impression in his almost 30 minutes on the field.
The centre-back won all seven of his duels and completed 95 percent of his passes.
Tottenham did not let up even after Danso's goal. Savinho extended the lead to 4-0 in the 82nd minute on his competitive debut for the Spurs, before Ben Davies scored to make it 5-0 just three minutes later.
Charlton managed a consolation goal to make it 5-1 through Lloyd Jones (87.). However, this did not change the Spurs' dominant performance.
