ÖFB talent Schuster makes competitive debut for Brentford
The 20-year-old Austrian international is even in the starting lineup. Countryman Xaver Schlager also celebrates his starting XI debut.
It's a special evening for Jannik Schuster: The 20-year-old Austrian international is set to make his debut for his new club FC Brentford in the second round of the English EFL Cup.
The "Bees" are visiting second-tier club Birmingham City – and it will feature a direct Austrian duel. Birmingham captain Christoph Klarer will also lead his team onto the pitch from the start.
Schuster moved from Red Bull Salzburg to Brentford in the summer for around 18 million euros, taking the leap into the Premier League. However, the youngster had to remain on the bench for 90 minutes during the impressive 3-0 home win against Tottenham on the opening day of the league season.
Schlager also starts for the first time
Xaver Schlager also makes his starting XI debut for his new club.
The 28-year-old ÖFB star is on the pitch for Nottingham Forest from the start for the first time. Schlager had already celebrated his debut for coach Oliver Glasner's club in the Premier League opener against Leeds United (0-1), but had only been substituted in the 74th minute.
Now, in the EFL Cup - once again against Leeds United - Glasner is relying on his compatriot from the start. This is Schlager's first opportunity to make an impression for Forest over 90 minutes.
