Oliver Glasner on Rejected Offer: "It Didn't Make Sense"

For Oliver Glasner and Nottingham Forest, the league opener (0-1 against Leeds United) did not go as planned.

The Upper Austrian has held his second job in England since this summer, after Crystal Palace.

Before that, he only worked in Austria and Germany. He has already settled in at his new club. "The more life experience you have, the easier it sometimes is. I don't have to perform on the pitch myself, so it's different as a coach. I'm lucky to understand English. I think my English is alright, it has improved over the last few years. That makes it easier," Glasner said at a press conference.

Lack of Language Skills Led to Rejection

He makes no secret of the fact that language is an important issue. In the past, the Upper Austrian had already turned down clubs for this reason.

"For example, a few years ago, after Frankfurt, I received an offer from a country whose language I didn't speak. I rejected it because it didn't make sense. I believe you have to communicate with the players and the coaching staff, otherwise you can't convey your messages. That's why I turned it down," explained the coach.
