ÖFB striker set for move to former Sturm coach
The striker is on the verge of a move to Germany, specifically to Greuther Fürth.
Arnel Jakupovic (28) made the leap into the Austrian A-team squad in 2024. However, the attacker remained without an appearance during his nomination.
In terms of his career, he has been with NK Osijek in Croatia since August 2024. Now a transfer seems imminent. According to transfer insider Sacha Tavolieri, he will move to 2. Bundesliga side Greuther Fürth on a free transfer.
Negotiations are reportedly advanced, and the Austrian is expected to sign for two years.
Jakupovic also played for Sturm
Heiko Vogel (50), a former Sturm coach, manages Fürth. The German was in charge in 2018 and won the UNIQA ÖFB-Cup with the Graz club.
Jakupovic himself wore the Sturm jersey a little later, in spring 2019, as a Lecce loan for half a year (six games in the ADMIRAL Bundesliga).
The Vienna native most recently scored 16 goals in 67 games for Osijek.
