Glasner's club on the verge of a record transfer
The 23-year-old Englishman is expected to cost around 52 million euros, making him the most expensive signing in the club's history.
A new record transfer is brewing at the club of Austrian coach Oliver Glasner.
According to "Sky" and "The Telegraph", Nottingham Forest are close to signing Liam Delap. The "Tricky Trees" are reportedly set to pay around 52 million euros to FC Chelsea for the 23-year-old English striker.
This would see Delap significantly surpass Nottingham's previous record signing. The club paid around 43.4 million euros for Omari Hutchinson in the summer of 2025.
Glasner gets new attacking reinforcement
For Glasner, the potential transfer is no coincidence. Nottingham showed clear attacking problems in the season opener against Leeds United (0-1) and remained largely harmless for long stretches.
Delap is now expected to sign long-term and provide new impetus to Glasner's club's attack. ÖFB national team player Xaver Schlager is also another Austrian in the Forest squad.
Despite a mixed past season, the striker is still considered a great talent. Delap made 41 competitive appearances for Chelsea, but only scored two goals and provided three assists.
No future at Chelsea
Under new coach Xabi Alonso, Delap is unlikely to play a significant role. The 23-year-old is allowed to leave the club and was not in the matchday squad for the "Blues'" competitive season opener against Fulham.
