Seven Absentees! Salzburg Travels to Belgium with Depleted Squad
The "Bulls" will be without several key players against RSC Anderlecht.
On Thursday, FC Salzburg will face 34-time Belgian champions RSC Anderlecht away in the UEFA Europa League (kick-off at 6:45 PM, follow in the LIVE ticker >>>).
The "Bulls" will have to do without seven players due to injury: Enrique Aguilar (thigh), Kevin Boma (calf), Sota Kitano (ankle), John Mellberg (thigh), Justin Omoregie (ankle), Dominik Schmid (knee) and Nikolas Veratschnig (knee) are unavailable in Belgium.
Centre-back Boma had just sustained a calf muscle injury last Sunday in the home game against Austria Lustenau (5:1) and had to remain in the dressing room at half-time.
It is still open whether Jesper Lindström (thigh) and Damir Redzic (hip) will be able to play against Anderlecht.
Vertessen's 'Home Game'
Striker Yorbe Vertessen can look forward to the clash with his Belgian compatriots. "I think two strong teams will meet, who can play at a similarly high level. And I know that we will win the game if we push ourselves to the limit. But we are also aware of how Anderlecht can play because we analyzed that very well in advance," said the 25-year-old.
"Personally, I'm very excited about the game in Brussels because it's very close to my home. This time too, many people from my family and many friends will be there. That gives me additional motivation," said Vertessen.
After the 1-0 away victory against Levski Sofia, the 0-4 home defeat against AC Milan and the 2-2 draw against NK Celje, Salzburg has four points after three EL matchdays.
