Austrian Star Believes in Europa League Title Chances: "Definitely"
The Austrian has already won the UEFA Europa League once. After a successful start, he believes his new club can also achieve it.
Austrian star Kevin Danso celebrated a special home match with Sunderland. His loan club Sunderland is back in European competition after 42 years. They kicked off their UEFA Europa League campaign with a 1-0 victory against AZ Alkmaar in front of their own fans.
Danso played the first 84 minutes. The match was particularly emotional for the supporters.
"The atmosphere was incredible. As we came into the dressing room, I saw clips and some photos. You don't normally see that (the tifo, editor's note) because you're in the tunnel. But when we stepped onto the pitch, the atmosphere was great. They truly are the 12th man and helped us today," said the Austrian to "Stan Sport".
Second title for Danso?
For Danso, it was only his fifth appearance in the UEFA Europa League (once for Lens, three times for Spurs). Nevertheless, he has a strong connection with the competition; he won it with his parent club Spurs in 2025, also coming on for eleven minutes in the final.
Is another triumph with Sunderland possible? "Definitely. Especially if we play like we did today. If we take our chances, definitely," Danso is convinced.
