No ÖFB! Rapid Player Called Up to World Cup Participant's Senior Team for the First Time
A Rapid player is in the senior national team for the first time. The defender also previously played for the ÖFB.
SK Rapid is likely to have a new senior national team player in its ranks soon. As sports director Markus Katzer reveals to "Krone", Amin-Elias Gröller (21) has been nominated for Tunisia's senior team for the first time.
The defender was still nominated for the ÖFB U21 national team in March 2025. After that, he decided for Tunisia, playing five times for their U23 team.
Turbulent World Cup
Now the senior team beckons. The Africans had a sobering World Cup with three defeats. After the opener against Sweden (1:5), coach Sabri Lamouchi even had to leave and was replaced by Herve Renard.
Meanwhile, Mouine Chaabani has taken over the reins. The squad announcement is planned for Friday. If Katzer is to be believed, Gröller will also be nominated.
