Mbuyi, Vincze and Co: Here's the situation with Rapid's injured players
Ahead of the second leg in the third round of Conference League qualification, Johannes Hoff Thorup provided an injury update.
The list of long-term injured players at SK Rapid is long.
At the press conference ahead of the second leg in the third qualification round for the Europa Conference League, coach Johannes Hoff Thorup provided an update on the septet.
Jean Marcelin is already back in team training; he recently gained minutes with Rapid II. The coaching staff's plan is for him to play one more game with the second team in the ADMIRAL 2. Liga before he is considered for appearances with the first team. Thorup explicitly described his development as very positive.
Minor Setback for Mbuyi
Claudy Mbuyi has been dealing with complications during his rehabilitation, recently experiencing pain again, which required reducing his workload for up to ten days. It is expected to take another three to four weeks until Mbuyi can train with the team again.
Patience is also required for Daniel Nunoo and Dominic Vincze. The timetable suggests that both will rejoin team training at the end of August.
Ndzie Out for Longer
Ange Ahoussou was sidelined longer by a virus; he first needs to regain his physical strength. However, he is expected to gradually intensify his training within a week. After that, he will be built up over several weeks before appearances become an option again.
Rapid fans, however, will have to wait even longer for Martin Ndzie's comeback. The current plan suggests he can rejoin team training at the beginning of September. After that, according to Hoff Thorup, he will need another three to four weeks.
Lorenz Szladits is already much further along; he has recovered well from his ankle injury and is already completing running sessions and individual training on the pitch. Next week, the 19-year-old is expected to be more integrated into team training.
Sporting Reasons for Radulovic's Absence
Andrija Radulovic's absence, however, is not due to an injury, as Hoff Thorup clarified. He is fully fit and trains regularly with the team, but currently has little chance of playing time for sporting reasons.
