Iraola praises LASK fans: "Great experience for us"

The atmosphere in the stands was Champions League-worthy, and the action on the pitch did nothing to change that. Liverpool coach Andoni Iraola had nothing but praise.

Linz was once again worth the trip for FC Liverpool. The "Reds" scored six goals against LASK in their UEFA Champions League home debut and ultimately won 6:3.

But not only the result was to the liking of the English, the atmosphere in the stadium also went down well with the visitors. When asked how Liverpool coach Andoni Iraola perceived the atmosphere in the Oberösterreich Arena, he said: "I love the stadium. I also really liked the event yesterday when we came for training, because the atmosphere is really good - you can just feel it."

Praise for both sets of fans

The 44-year-old Spaniard also positively highlighted the atmosphere in the stands: "Even with this big deficit, the home fans kept going, supported the team, and created a great atmosphere. Our fans were also at a very high level." Both sets of fans contributed to it being "a great Champions League experience for us," according to Iraola.

LASK coach Dietmar Kühbauer also had nothing but praise for the Linz crowd after the match: "I can only agree: I think we had really good support. Unfortunately, we couldn't treat the spectators to a victory."

He added with a smile that one or two fans probably went home satisfied despite the defeat, as there had been nine goals to see. "I would have preferred it if six of them had been on our side, but unfortunately, we didn't manage that today," said the 55-year-old in his usual casual manner.
