LASK clearly lost in the second round of the UEFA Champions League 2026/27 league phase: The Linz side was defeated by FC Liverpool on Wednesday evening with a score of 3:6.

It is the second defeat in the second match in the elite competition for Kühbauer's squad.

No Chance in the First Half

After hopeful opening minutes from LASK's perspective, the visitors from England took full control in the home Oberösterreich-Arena.

After 22 minutes, the "Reds" scored for the first time – Ronald Araujo rose high after a Tsimikas corner kick and headed in to make it 1:0 (22.).

LASK was shocked and punished again just moments later. After a spectacular dribbling display by Ngumoha, the ball landed on the edge of the box with Barcola, who scored to make it 2:0 (24.).

Liverpool remained on the attack, but also had some bad luck – Koumas' goal was disallowed for offside, and Gravenberch only hit the inside of the post.

In the 37th minute, Florian Wirtz provided a perfect through ball to Bradley Barcola, who left Jungwirth no chance. The teams went into halftime with a 3:0 score.

Wild Second Half

After the restart, LASK found a bit more space, played with commitment, and created good chances through Lang and later Danek.

Shortly after, the visitors struck again. Frimpong showed great strength in a header duel and converted Tsimikas' second assist to make it 4:0 (51.).

Then LASK showed a sign of life. Ljubicic, who had been substituted in a minute earlier, finished off a beautiful combination to make it 1:4 (63.).

Liverpool didn't take long to restore their four-goal lead, as Barcola sealed his hat-trick with a tap-in (66.). A few minutes later, LASK committed a defensive error in their build-up play, and Koumas finished Frimpong's cross through Jungwirth's legs to make it 6:1 (72.).

Impressive Finish

In the final phase, LASK showed a different face. Florian Flecker, who had been substituted in at halftime, completed another superb combination involving Kalajdzic and Dibango (74.).

Shortly after, the veteran once again caused ecstasy, as Flecker scored a brace with a half-volley after Dibango's third assist, sealing the 3:6 final score (77.). It was the Styrian's (30) third goal against FC Liverpool.

Liverpool now has six points from two games in the Champions League league phase, following their 2:1 victory over Atletico Madrid. LASK will face Sporting Lisbon away in round three next week.
