LASK's U19 team misses out on a surprising victory against FC Liverpool on the second matchday of the UEFA Youth League!

After holding a temporary 2-0 lead, the Linz side ultimately had to concede a 2-4 defeat.

The young Linz players put on a surprisingly dominant performance in the first half. They controlled the game and allowed virtually no chances.

The Upper Austrians rewarded themselves in the 23rd minute for their impressive display. Paul Krapf scored to make it 1-0. Even after taking the lead, the Linz side remained the better team and must have been annoyed that it was only 1-0 after 45 minutes.

LASK extends lead

The hosts maintained the upper hand even after the break. The English side still seemed somewhat clueless as to how to break down their opponents.

Meanwhile, the U19 of the Austrian champions continued to present themselves in dazzling form. In the 51st minute, captain Jonas Ilk (51.) then added another goal.

Liverpool with a quickfire double

Shortly after, things turned particularly bitter. First, Luca Ortner squandered a huge chance to make it 3-0 by only hitting the post. Then, the "Reds" pulled one back through Will Wright (57.) on a direct counter-attack. It was Liverpool's first real chance.

Shortly after, the visitors managed to score a quickfire double. Captain Will Wright once again showed his class and equalized to make it 2-2 (60.). The game then became significantly more physical, with many fouls and several yellow cards.

LASK increasingly came under pressure and could no longer withstand it. In the 84th minute, Luca Eden turned the game around from the English perspective. Captain Wright then completed his hat-trick with a penalty for the 4-2 final score (89.).

Thus, LASK's U19 team stands at one point after two rounds, having previously secured a point against AEK Athens.
