On the 4th matchday of the UEFA Champions League, Bayern Munich win 2-0 away at Atletico Madrid. Austrian international Konrad Laimer scores a spectacular goal.

The visitors had the first shot through Lennart Karl. An attack came down the left flank initiated by Harry Kane, who had an eye for Karl. From around 15 meters out, he tried to be too precise and missed just wide of the left post (23.).

The newly crowned Ballon d'Or winner got the next opportunity. Laimer teed up Harry Kane, who attempted an overhead kick in the center. However, he caught the ball on his shin and put it wide of the goal (27.).

Sörloth had Atletico's first chance in the 30th minute but missed the target from close range. Bayern were closer to taking the lead. In the 34th minute, a chance for Kane was thwarted at the last moment, while in the 36th, Stanisic missed from 16 meters.

Bayern rewarded

Even though Bayern had several chances to take the lead, Jan Oblak was only called into action in the second half. In the 46th minute, Kimmich forced him into a save.

The deserved 1-0 was handed to the Munich side. Atletico's defender Le Normand failed to clear a blocked shot from the 18-yard box and lost it to Lennart Karl. The 18-year-old didn't need asking twice and scored to give Bayern the lead.

The crossbar initially denied the next goal. Upamecano tried his luck from long range, with Oblak decisively deflecting the ball (73.).

Laimer with the decisive goal

The Austrian international was set up by Harry Kane and found himself on the right at a tight angle to the goal. The 29-year-old looked for passing options, found none, and then powerfully smashed the ball high into the near post to make it 2-0 (74.). Jan Oblak had no chance.

In the 81st minute, the net bulged again. Upamecano headed the ball into the goal after a corner. However, the goal was disallowed due to an alleged offensive foul. Shortly after, Oblak prevented Brown from scoring a third goal (86.).

As no more goals were scored, the match ended in a 2-0 victory for Bayern Munich. With this, the team, spearheaded by goal-scorer Laimer, takes an important step towards the top eight. Atletico, on the other hand, temporarily sitting 22nd, will probably start to worry.

Goalless draw in Norway

In the far north, OSC Lille secured a point against Bodo/Glimt. No goals were scored in a match without major incidents or clear-cut chances.

However, the home team had the biggest chances in the game. Sondre Fet had an opportunity to take the lead from close range in the 59th minute. Ole Blomberg didn't do any better, heading the ball too centrally.

The Norwegians thus temporarily move up to 23rd place in the table, while OSC is 34th with just one point.
