Galatasaray celebrates their second consecutive victory on the fourth Champions League matchday.

The Turkish Süper Lig leaders defeat VfB Stuttgart 2-0 at home. The match-winner is Russian attacking player Batrakov, who scores both goals (12', 15').

In Stuttgart's first CL defeat, Yanik Spalt makes his Champions League debut. The young Vorarlberg native is substituted in for the injured Karazor in the first half.

Early Gala Brace

In Istanbul, the intensity is high from the start. The first attacking moments belong to the visitors.

Leweling gets a shot off at the far post after a cross. The winger is already turning to celebrate, but his shot bounces from the left to the right post and back into play (8'). Shortly after, Demirovic narrowly misses a Leweling cross in the center (11').

On the other side, Gala converts their first scoring chance: Chabot's clearance attempt lands at Batrakov, who dispatches the ball under the crossbar for 1-0 without hesitation (12').

Just three minutes later, the young Russian completes his brace. After a smart run behind the VfB defense, he scores past Stuttgart goalkeeper Bredlow through his legs to make it 2-0 (15').

Spalt Makes CL Debut

After the second goal conceded, Stuttgart's midfield veteran Karazor has to leave the field due to injury. 19-year-old Vorarlberg native Yanik Spalt is brought into the game and thus makes his Champions League debut (18').

The game remains heated throughout. Before halftime, Gala's Baris Yilmaz and Stuttgart's Führich clash. Undav also gets involved. A scuffle breaks out in front of the technical areas. Undav and Baris Yilmaz each receive a yellow card (39').

VfB attacking player Führich has another chance before the halftime whistle, but his shot goes wide right of the goal (42'). In first-half stoppage time, Spalt receives a yellow card for a foul on double goal-scorer Batrakov (45'+3).

Stuttgart Goal Disallowed

After the restart, the match remains entertaining. Osimhen gets shots off (56', 57'). For the visitors, Führich (57', 65') and Undav (63') show their skills and force Gala goalkeeper Cakir into saves.

At the start of the final phase, VfB scores what they think is a 1-2 consolation goal. But Führich's spectacular curling shot into the far corner is disallowed. This is because earlier in the move, Undav, who had hit the crossbar, was offside (75').

In the 86th minute, substitute Pejcinovic misses a golden opportunity to make it 1-2. He runs unchallenged towards Cakir, who distinguishes himself with a strong save.

Sporting Wins Against Shakhtar

At Stamford Bridge in London, where Shakhtar Donetsk hosts their CL home games, the away team claims a victory. Sporting Lisbon prevails 1-0 against the Ukrainians.

After a goalless first half, Doumbia is responsible for the 1-0 winning goal (59').

Thus, the 2-3 defeat against LASK remains the only loss on the Portuguese side's record. Sporting managed to win the other three matches. For Shakhtar, it is their second consecutive defeat.
