Team Success Takes Priority
"My nose for goal was never gone, it always worked. That things are going so well after my comeback is not a given, I'm absolutely delighted about it," said Baumgartner. "It helps you immensely as a player when you can come back with goals and assists like that. But it's clear to everyone that it won't continue at this pace."
"I'm glad that I was able to fight my way back with the help of the entire club. The communication with the coach was sensational. I'm happy that I'll be getting more minutes again. More important than my personal performance is that we are successful as a team," Baumgartner emphasized.
Baumgartner on City: "They are vulnerable"
The 27-year-old certainly sees chances for Leipzig against Manchester City.
"An absolute top opponent awaits us. We showed in phases against Real Madrid that we can compete with such teams. City has incredible quality, but it has recently been seen that they are vulnerable. We have to be brave," said Baumgartner.
"The question is whether we can actively cause problems for the opponent. If we show courage on the pitch, then we will also get chances against City. There may not be as many as in the Bundesliga, but they will come and we must use them."
