Spectacle in Linz!

LASK wins 4-0 against Slovan Bratislava on the fourth matchday of the UEFA Champions League, celebrating their second victory in four games.

Slovan Bratislava started the match with great enthusiasm, but after chances through Sporar (2') and several quick counter-attacks, the momentum of the Slovaks quickly fizzled out.

Andrade's header was still denied by Slovan keeper Popovic (16'), but Jörgensen did better shortly after a Usor corner: The Dane was perfectly positioned at the far post, easily won his aerial duel, and headed in for the 1-0 lead.

Jörgensen bags a brace

When, of all people, the Upper Austrian-born and former LASK player Kevin Wimmer fouled Robert Ljubicic just barely a meter in front of the visitors' penalty area, Jörgensen immediately got another chance. He curled the free-kick low around the wall, surprising Popovic at his near post, and after 37 minutes played, Jörgensen bagged his brace.

Shortly before halftime came the third blow. The Slovaks failed to clear a corner, until the ball fell to Tornich's feet. His shot ended up in traffic, but the ball bounced directly to Ljubicic, who slotted it in from close range for the 3-0 lead. Slovan was practically falling apart by this point and seemed overwhelmed by Linz's level of play.

The second half also began with a dominant LASK. Just minutes after the restart, Horvath sent Adeniran into the penalty area on the left, where the US striker powerfully hammered the ball into the net (48').

Even with a 4-0 lead, Linz remained forceful. Ljubicic (56') and Usor (62') couldn't convert their volley attempts from excellent positions, while substitute Kalajdzic was denied by saves from Slovan keeper Popovic (68', 71') and fired a shot over the crossbar (73'). In stoppage time, first Andrade with a chip and immediately Kalajdzic with a header hit the woodwork (90'+1).

Ultimately, it remained a clear 4-0 home victory for LASK, who consequently move up in the standings.
