Youth League: Austrian international Maric loses with Bayern in Madrid

On the fourth Youth League matchday, ÖFB youth international Matteo Maric and FC Bayern Munich had to concede a 1:4 defeat against Atletico Madrid.

Maric came into the game in the 64th minute. At that point, Atletico was already leading 4:1 after goals from Sanchez (11th), Kiala (43rd/own goal) and Obama (49th, 55th). Srb scored for Bayern (40th).

For the Munich side, this was their second Youth League defeat in Madrid. Previously, they had a victory against Bodö/Glimt (6:1), a draw against Arsenal (3:3), and a loss against Viking (0:2).

The 16-year-old Maric has made three brief appearances in the youth Champions League. Only against the "Gunners" did he remain on the bench.

Training with the Professionals

In Bayern's youth setup, he plays for the U19 team. In recent days, the midfielder was apparently allowed to train with the FCB professionals.

On Instagram, the former Salzburg youth player recently shared a photo showing him with Harry Kane. Maric was holding the Ballon d'Or, which the English star striker had won shortly before.

According to "BILD", Maric was also part of the professional squad at Bayern's final training session before the Champions League match against Atletico Madrid.

The 16-year-old moved from the Salzburg Red Bull Academy to Munich in the summer.
