Three times on the eighth matchday of the ADMIRAL Bundesliga, GAK hit the crossbar against Red Bull Salzburg – but the ball never went into the net!

As the league leaders also failed to convert their chances, the two teams drew 0-0 (to the match report >>>).

The moods are very different after the duel. Former Salzburg goalkeeper Cican Stankovic, who saved a top chance against Salzburg's Lindström in just the seventh minute, rues the three points.

Stankovic Had Hoped For More

"In the first half, we had a few difficulties, but in the second half, we were the better team. We would have deserved a goal – and even the win," he explains in a "Sky" interview.

After Michael Sollbauer blocked Vertessen's shot for his goalkeeper in the first half (32nd minute), Karim Konate also hit the post (38th minute), and on the other side, Yannick Oberleitner and Christian Lichtenberger missed chances, the teams went into halftime goalless.

After the restart, Oberleitner, Anderson, and Jacob Italiano all only hit the crossbar for GAK. Salzburg could barely impress until the 86th minute and only became dangerous late through Gaoussou Diakite and Haris Tabakovic.

Scheiblehner Refers to "Different Conditions"

While Oberleitner speaks of a "very good game" after the match, coach Gerald Scheiblehner admits that more would have been possible. Especially Anderson should have converted his chance, the coach believes.

Nevertheless, he speaks of a "fair draw," but wants to emphasize that the team "would have deserved a little more because we went into the game under different circumstances. On the pitch, we compensated for the areas where Salzburg is superior to us with a great team performance."

Röhl Demands "Better Decisions"

In the Salzburg goal, Christian Früchtl replaced the injured Christian Zawieschitzky. He sees the "Bulls'" main problem as actions not being played out well.

Coach Danny Röhl also agrees. "Especially in the last 20 minutes, when we noticed that the game was opening up, we need to make better decisions. We weren't good enough today," he analyzes, adding that both teams deserved the point.

"GAK is a Sleeping Giant That is Slowly Waking Up"

Nevertheless, Salzburg already knew about the strengths of the Graz team before the match. GAK has not lost a home game this year. For goalkeeper Stankovic, this is a reason to set high goals.

"Our goal is clearly to get into the Top 6. If we continue to play like today, we will certainly succeed," he concludes. GAK "is a sleeping giant that is slowly waking up."
