Talks underway: Is Nikolas Polster moving to Berlin?
The WAC goalkeeper has clearly communicated his desire to move abroad this summer. Now, the opportunity could arise.
Already at the end of the past ADMIRAL Bundesliga season, WAC goalkeeper Nikolas Polster stated his wish to take the next step in his career.
He confirmed in June that he wants a transfer abroad.
Although he has been linked with several clubs in recent weeks, no official enquiries have been made.
Hertha BSC makes contact
This, however, is now set to change. According to "Sky" reporter Philipp Hinze, Hertha BSC is considering signing the 24-year-old goalkeeper.
Accordingly, talks have already begun. Polster would like to move to Germany, and the transfer fee also appears to be within reach for the Berlin club. However, negotiations are not far advanced.
New number one sought in Berlin
It is certain that Hertha BSC is looking for a new number one. However, the German second-tier club is currently considering several candidates.
Last season, Tjark Ernst guarded Hertha's goal. However, the 23-year-old was sold to Feyenoord Rotterdam for five million euros. Konstantin Heide, Marius Gersbeck, and Tim Goller are currently three other goalkeepers in the Berlin squad.
Polster would bring the experience of 59 games in the ADMIRAL Bundesliga to Berlin. In 2025, he also became ÖFB-Cup winner with Wolfsberger AC. The 24-year-old, whose contract in Wolfsberg expires in 2027, narrowly missed the cut for Austria's 2026 World Cup squad.
