WAC unveils ÖFB striker from Salzburg
The Carinthian returns to his former club. Wearing the Salzburg jersey, he became top scorer of the UEFA Youth League.

Phillip Verhounig (20) is moving from FC Liefering to ADMIRAL Bundesliga side WAC, where he has signed a three-year contract.
The Carinthian was most recently captain at Liefering. In 2024/25, the U21 international became top scorer of the UEFA Youth League (nine goals) while playing for FC Salzburg.
Return to Former Club
The transfer marks a return for the attacker. He already wore the "Wolves'" jersey for four years during his youth, before moving to the Salzburg academy as a 14-year-old in 2020.
"I'm really looking forward to the new challenge at WAC. After great and, above all, important years in Salzburg, the time has come for me to take on a new challenge. I want to take the next step in my career and consistently prove myself at this level," said the new signing.
Salzburg with Buy-Back Option
Head coach Thomas Silberberger states: "Phillip is a highly talented Austrian attacking player with a lot of potential. He received excellent training at Red Bull Salzburg and already brings a lot of quality despite his young age."
According to "Sky" transfer insider Eric Niederseer, Salzburg has a buy-back option. Austria Wien and Swiss champions FC Thun were reportedly also beaten in the transfer race.
