LASK: Kalajdzic's Return Apparently in the Home Stretch!

"Basically, you never know in life – that's why I never close a door," Sasa Kalajdzic explained to "Sky" in mid-August when he was officially bid farewell by LASK at the Raiffeisen Arena.

Roughly two weeks later, the ÖFB national team striker is reportedly on the verge of a permanent return to the Austrian double winners.

According to the English medium "Express & Star", Kalajdzic is set to move to LASK from Wolverhampton Wanderers on a free transfer. The contract is said to include a 50 percent sell-on clause, as the medium reports.

No Longer Wanted at Wolverhampton

Kalajdzic was already on loan at LASK last season and, as an absolute key player, won the league title and the ÖFB Cup with the Linz side.

He has played no role in the Wolves' plans for the current season so far. Therefore, the 2-meter tall player has recently been in talks with several clubs.

Is the Champions League Decisive?

Following LASK's surprising qualification for the Champions League group stage, there were already speculations that the Linz side's chances of a possible Kalajdzic return had increased.

Two weeks ago, Kalajdzic stated in a "Sky" interview that he wanted to "return to those spheres, to those leagues" where he belonged. With qualification for the Champions League, LASK should now presumably meet these criteria.

LASK CEO Siegmund Gruber stated to "Sky" on Saturday that signing Kalajdzic would be "really difficult," but that "the door was still open."
