U-turn! Rapid Defender Allowed to Leave After All
Just a few days ago, Johannes Hoff Thorup didn't want to let the left-back go. Now his departure is imminent.
Benjamin Böckle is allowed to leave SK Rapid after all and will soon become the Hütteldorfers' first summer departure.
According to the "Kurier", the left-back is on the verge of a transfer to SCR Altach, and the transfer fee is said to be "within a manageable range".
In Vorarlberg, the 24-year-old is planned as a replacement for Mohamed Ouedraogo, who in turn is set to move to Olympique Lyon and bring Altach 1.5 million euros.
Thorup Wanted to Evaluate Him
Originally, coach Johannes Hoff Thorup wanted to evaluate the left-back in the upcoming test matches, because regular starter Jannes Horn is still recovering from an Achilles tendon injury.
"Böckle was injured, which is why I can't assess him sufficiently yet. I want to observe him more closely," Thorup recently told the "Kurier".
The Call of Home
However, his Vorarlberg home calls the multiple ÖFB youth national player, who spent last season on loan at WSG Tirol and impressed with good performances there.
Böckle only featured in 13 competitive matches for Rapid, having joined Hütteldorf from Fortuna Düsseldorf in 2024.
