Despite falling behind! LASK wins entertaining Upper Austria derby convincingly
In a turbulent opening phase, visitors Ried take a spectacular lead. LASK responds immediately and turns the game around.
In the 3rd round of the ADMIRAL Bundesliga, LASK defeated SV Ried 4-1 in an entertaining Upper Austria derby.
After a few minor chances for both sides, SV Ried scored the opening goal in the 9th minute. The visitors pressed the reigning champions high and won the ball, which, after several passes, reached Stefan Schwab. The Ried captain then set up Niama Sissoko, who slid the ball past Jungwirth and into the net.
Adeniran's Brace
LASK hit back immediately. This time, Ried made an error in their build-up play. Moses Usor was played through and laid the ball across to Samuel Adeniran. The American remained calm and beat Andi Leitner (10'). A mere 84 seconds separated the first two goals.
In the 18th minute, Andrade played a long ball through and found Moses Usor. The Nigerian sprinted away from the entire defense and chipped the ball over Andi Leitner into the net.
In the 27th minute, it was Adeniran again, once more from a high ball played behind the Ried defense. Bogarde set up the LASK goal scorer, who was able to calmly bring the ball onto his strong left foot at the edge of the box and curl it into the goal.
Key Players Leave the Field Early
In the second half, Didi Kühbauer had to substitute both Horvath and Adeniran early. Both key players were carrying knocks and were rested.
In the 58th minute, substitute Christoph Lang was perfectly set up by Moses Usor and extended the lead to 4-1.
In the 74th minute, Robert Ljubicic spiced things up again: the LASK new signing tackled Jonas Mayer in midfield with an open sole and was sent off.
However, SV Ried could not make the game exciting again, and LASK comfortably saw out the victory.
With this win, the double winner also achieved a perfect start to the season. The Linz side now stands at nine points after three games. SV Ried remains on one point.
For LASK, things will now get serious midweek with the CL play-off against Celtic. The match will be played on Wednesday in Glasgow.
