Marquee Signing! Wacker Innsbruck lands top-flight goalscorer
Last season, the former Algerian youth international was still his team's top scorer. Now he joins the newly promoted second-division side.
FC Wacker Innsbruck is strengthening its squad with a true goalscorer shortly before the end of the transfer window.
Yanis Guermouche moves from Bulgarian first division club Slavia Sofia to the newly promoted side in the ADMIRAL 2. Liga.
Last season, the former Algerian youth international was still the top scorer for the third-placed team in the efbet Liga with six goals and six assists. In the current season, he has been limited to four brief appearances.
Wacker's Most Valuable Player
At FC Wacker Innsbruck, the 1.92-meter tall striker signed a contract until 2028 with an option. The 25-year-old, who has previously played for Montpellier and Iraklis Thessaloniki, is immediately the most valuable player in the squad with a market value of 500,000 Euros.
Sporting director Jakob Griesebner says: "Yanis proved himself as a regular starter in the Bulgarian first division and achieved third place with Slavia Sofia. He brings physicality, experience from 128 professional games, and the will to score goals – our young attack will benefit from this. We are particularly pleased that we were able to tie him down long-term."
"I have played in France, Greece, and Bulgaria – but a club with this history is something special. I want to score goals here and help the team achieve its goals. I'm really looking forward to the Tivoli and the fans," says Guermouche, looking forward to his new task with great anticipation.
