BW Linz signs former Altach player for midfield

Another new signing for Blau-Weiß Linz!

The relegated ADMIRAL Bundesliga side and current 2nd League leaders are strengthening their squad with a new midfielder just before the transfer deadline. Diego Madritsch is moving to the Steel City on a free transfer.

The 21-year-old had been without a club since his contract expired at SCR Altach in July. Madritsch now signs a contract in Linz until the end of the season, with an option.

Already in Training for Weeks

"Diego is a young Austrian player who has absolutely convinced us both personally and athletically in recent weeks. After a difficult period due to injury in Altach, he has been training with us for a few weeks now and is fully integrated," Sport Director Christoph Schösswendter is quoted as saying in the press release.

Madritsch comes from the youth academy of SV Ried and moved to Altach in Vorarlberg in the summer of 2024 for a low transfer fee. For the Vorarlberg side, the midfielder only played for the Juniors. In the Regionalliga, he made 28 appearances (3 goals).

"Now, at the end of the transfer window, and because the squad is very balanced overall, we have decided to sign Diego. He is a technically strong and incredibly diligent midfielder who, at 21 years old, also has a lot of development potential," Schösswendter added.
