Austria Salzburg: Last-Minute Exit and Defender's Rejection
The former Bayern talent joined Salzburg last year and is now looking for a new challenge. An attempt to re-sign a defender did not materialize.
Shortly before the transfer window closes in the ADMIRAL 2. Liga, SV Austria Salzburg announces the departure of defender Gabriel Marusic.
The 23-year-old center-back only moved from FC Bayern Munich's second team to Salzburg last summer and made 24 competitive appearances for the Violets.
According to the "Salzburger Nachrichten," Marusic has terminated his contract. "His performances were very good, especially in the autumn. He sees himself elsewhere, which is why we parted ways. But we are separating on good terms," says sporting director Roland Kirchler.
Aigner Turns Down Austria
There should be no further departures at Austria. Instead, work is currently underway on signing Altach attacking player Erkin Yalcin (22).
Meanwhile, there was a rejection from center-back Sebastian Aigner. He had played for Salzburg last season but ultimately did not extend his contract.
According to the "SN," the 25-year-old's new club has not yet been determined. Aigner recently underwent a trial with German fourth-tier club SV Sandhausen but was not signed.
