Confirmed! New Midfielder for Blau-Weiß Linz
The relegated club signs Thomas Schiestl on a free transfer from Bundesliga club GAK.
On Friday morning, Blau-Weiß Linz announced the signing of 23-year-old Thomas Schiestl.
The Tyrolean-born player joins the Bundesliga relegated club on a free transfer and signs a contract until 2028 with an option for another year. In the past Bundesliga season, he made nine appearances for GAK and contributed one assist. Schiestl has also gained experience in the second division, making 49 league appearances for GAK and Liefering.
Linz sporting director Christoph Schösswendter said about the new signing: "With Thomas, we have secured a young, physically and technically strong Austrian midfielder. Thanks to his training in Salzburg, he brings a profile that perfectly suits our playing style, is exciting, and has great development potential."
Head coach Michael Köllner also praised the 23-year-old's running ability: "Whoever plays on the wing should also be able to run very well. His immense running ability and his attitude, which you immediately see on the pitch, are Thomas's most distinctive qualities."
