Season Opener Botched! Amstetten Sends Admira Into Crisis

The team from Mostviertel pressed high in the first half, regularly forcing the visitors from Südstadt into errors.

In the 21st minute, Amstetten's Lipczinski had the first major chance. However, his header lacked power, allowing Steinbauer to secure the ball.

Three minutes later, Köchl almost scored the opening goal. The advanced full-back forced Steinbauer into a brilliant save (24.). Immediately after, Justin Forst sprinted half the length of the pitch, but his shot went just over the bar (25.).

Alleged Lead Disallowed

In the 28th minute, Amstetten celebrated for the first time. Sebastian Wimmer rose highest from a corner and headed the ball into the net. However, referee Daniel Pfister spotted a foul by an attacker and disallowed the goal.

David Peham then gave the Mostviertel team the lead (37.). After a fine combination, the prolific scorer used his experience to net the ball for a 1-0 lead. It was his 96th goal in his LigaZwa career.

Admira Struggles with Finishing

Seconds after the restart, there was controversy in the Admira penalty area (46.). Steiner brought an Amstetten player down. The referee awarded a penalty, sparking great excitement. After consulting with the linesman, the penalty decision was overturned.

Marco Wagner had the biggest chance for the Südstadt team (58.). The substitute attacker was set up by Ajanovic with a cross. The 22-year-old missed the goal with a header from close range. Admira pressed for the equalizer. Forst missed the 1-1 by just a few centimeters (62.).

Everything pointed to an Admira equalizer, but the next goal went to the Mostviertel side (67.). Substitute Mayer broke through on the right wing and found Armin Haider, who slotted home unchallenged for 2-0.

The consolation goal came at the start of a heated final phase. Gemicibasi delivered the corner, which was converted by Sergej Savic (85.). It was the Südstadt team's first league goal of the season.

However, the score remained 2-1. Amstetten secured their first home win of the season.
