Bad Fall! World Cup Downhill Skier Breaks Leg
Suddenly in a cast! "Not the news I would have liked to share with you."
Bosnian skier Elvedina Muzaferija has sustained a serious injury during summer training.
As the 26-year-old announced via Instagram, she broke her leg.
"I fell during giant slalom training in Saas-Fee and broke my leg," writes Muzaferija, presenting herself in a photo with a thick cast on her left leg.
2026/27 Season Not Yet Written Off
But the speed specialist can also provide some reassurance: "The good news is that no surgery is necessary, and my recovery is progressing well."
She has not yet given up on the dream of being back in the upcoming ski season. "I'm already working on learning to walk again and will be back on skis sooner than you think."
Muzaferija Already Close to World Cup Podium
For years, Muzaferija has been flying the flag for Bosnia and Herzegovina in the Alpine Ski World Cup. In 2024, she was already seriously knocking on the World Cup podium, finishing a strong fourth in the Crans-Montana downhill.
Last season, Muzaferija scored World Cup points only twice. At the 2026 Olympic Games in Cortina d'Ampezzo, she finished 16th in the Super-G, 20th in the Downhill, and 32nd in the Giant Slalom.
