Swiss Ski Star Wins "Skieur d'Or"
Swiss ski star Franjo von Allmen wins the "Skieur d'Or". In the vote, he narrowly beat Italian Federica Brignone.
Swiss ski star Franjo von Allmen has been honored at the highest level. He received the "Skieur d'Or" award from the International Association of Ski Journalists.
The trophy has been awarded since 1963 and recognizes the "Skier of the Season". It is one of the most prestigious honors in international skiing.
The record holders for the award are Marcel Hirscher and Pirmin Zurbriggen, who each won four times.
Narrowly Ahead of Brignone
With von Allmen's triumph, the Skieur d'Or goes to Switzerland for the 14th time. The 25-year-old was crowned a three-time Olympic champion at the Winter Olympics in Cortina and narrowly beat Italian Federica Brignone in the race for the award.
"It's always nice to look back on last season's achievements, but I'm even more excited for this season and hope I can improve further," said the Swiss athlete in an Instagram post by FIS.
