Petra Vlhova is making her World Cup comeback after an almost three-year injury break!

In January 2024, the 31-year-old sustained a serious injury to her right knee during the giant slalom in Jasna. Several operations followed (more on this >>>).

Her period of suffering is now set to end on October 24. She will start in the first race in Sölden but remains realistic about her expectations: "I see that I am improving with every run," she said at a press conference, adding: "I haven't skied for a long time and I need time to find my rhythm again."

Vlhova Currently Prefers Giant Slalom

Currently, the Slovakian, who celebrated 22 World Cup slalom victories, feels more comfortable in giant slalom. Nevertheless, she was able to take something away from the difficult months, or rather, years.

"I'm finally enjoying the whole journey. Before, I often took success and podium finishes for granted. Now I appreciate every moment, even if something doesn't work out," she explained. She is now "a completely different person."

Nevertheless, she also looks ambitiously towards the winter. She wants to get the maximum out of herself and win, even if that will probably still take time.

Vlhova had previously competed in the slalom and team combined at the Olympic Games. However, success eluded her.
