VSV Celebrates Overtime Win Against Bozen After Trailing

VSV turns the game around against the league leaders and wins in overtime. In a parallel game, Salzburg secures a victory against Fehervar.

On the ninth matchday of the win2day ICE Hockey League, VSV prevailed in overtime against league leaders HC Bozen. The Villach team won 4:3 at home, overcoming a deficit.

In the seventh minute, Gellon put his team ahead after a fine individual effort. Five minutes later, VSV was a man down on the ice after a penalty against Sproul. Bozen capitalized on this, with Digiacinto extending the lead to 2:0 on the power play.

VSV Fights Back

However, the hosts did not give up and constantly created dangerous chances. The response to the second goal conceded didn't take long. Hancock was brilliantly set up by Hughes and scored to make it 1:2.

Goals also came in the second period. Sproul capitalized on another power play to quickly equalize for VSV (23'). However, Bozen managed to restore their lead in the 35th minute, making it 3:2.

Bozen Lets Victory Slip Away

The third period started with a power play for Villach, which they once again utilized. Teasdale brought his team back into the game (41'). Despite good chances on both sides, no further goals were scored in the final minutes.

VSV continued to fight and was rewarded in overtime. Wallenta sealed the deal, securing the victory for his team.

In the standings, HC Bozen still leads with 19 points, but now only has a one-point advantage over Linz. VSV is in eighth place.

Salzburg Wins Big Against Fehervar

Red Bull Salzburg won 6:1 in Fehervar. After initial difficulties, they managed to turn the game in their favor in the second period.

The visitors had a good start to the match. From the outset, they dictated the pace and created numerous chances, but failed to capitalize on them.

During the first period, Fehervar found their footing and took the lead through Ambrus. The goal in the 13th minute had been anticipated. Despite significantly better statistics, the visitors were unable to recover the opposing team's lead for the time being.

Salzburg Turns the Game Around

In the second period, the "Bulls" became much more efficient. Shortly after the break, Schneider scored the equalizer (31'), before Lee turned the game around in the 36th minute.

Two more goals followed from these scorers (38'/Lee; 39'/Schneider). Thus, the visitors went into the final period with a 4:1 lead.

There, Schneider once again added to the score with his third goal, making it 5:1 (49'), before Galipeau sealed the 6:1 final score (59').

With the victory, the Salzburg team moved up to seventh place in the standings. Fehervar is twelfth.
