KAC has found a replacement for injured goalie Sebastian Dahms!

KAC confirmed this on Friday via a press release. Accordingly, the "Red Jackets" have signed Mareks Mitens. The Latvian was most recently under contract with Banska Bystrica and is a national team player for his country. He was part of the squad at the 2026 World Championship.

The 28-year-old played in the USA between 2016 and 2023 for the Aston Rebels (NAHL), Lake Superior State University in the NCAA, the AHL teams Binghamton Devils and Utica Comets, and the Adirondack Thunder in the ECHL.

After an injury, Mitens returned to Europe, playing for Rytiri Kladno in the Czech Republic and for HK Spisska Nova Ves and most recently HC Banska Bystrica in Slovakia.

In Klagenfurt, he has initially signed a contract until the international break in November. He is expected to arrive in Carinthia this weekend.

"Fulfills our requirements profile"

"Our goaltending coach meticulously examined and analyzed around 30 available goaltenders, and in balancing our sporting expectations and economic possibilities, we decided to bring Mareks Mitens to us," General Manager Oliver Pilloni is quoted as saying.

He further states: "He already brings a lot of international experience to Klagenfurt, played in good leagues, and was also at the last A-World Championship. Above all, he perfectly fulfills our requirements profile of having a complement to Florian Vorauer available."
