The squad for Austria's first Women's Top Division Ice Hockey World Championship has been set.

25 players - three goaltenders, eight defenders, and 14 forwards - have been nominated by Head Coach Alexander Bröms, General Manager Gina Kingsbury, and the rest of the staff for the finals in Denmark (November 6 to 16).

The roster is led by team captain Anna Meixner and PWHL professional Theresa Schafzahl. A total of 13 Austrian players are active abroad, with Sabres St. Pölten providing the largest contingent with seven players.

"We spoke extensively with the staff to make the best possible decisions for the squad," says Head Coach Bröms. "It will be so much fun to compete with Austria against some of the best countries in the world – and that's exactly what we wanted."

Warm-up Match in Villach Before World Championship Departure

Before the World Championship opener against Czechia on November 6 in Esbjerg, a final training camp will take place in Villach starting October 30. A warm-up match is also planned there, announced the ÖEHV. The opponent is yet to be determined.

In their Top-Division World Championship debut, Austria will face Germany (November 7), the USA (November 9), and Switzerland (November 10) in addition to Czechia. The top 4 teams from the five-team groups will reach the quarterfinals, while the last-placed team in the group will play for survival on November 13 in Herning.

"No one is unbeatable," emphasizes the Swede. "We are not going to Denmark to lose and be relegated a division again. We are going there because we believe we can win games."
