On the Rise! Black Wings End Pustertal's Winning Streak
The Linzers continue their winning ways and are the closest pursuers of HC Bozen.
Black Wings Linz remain in scintillating form and are not slowed down by HC Pustertal.
The Steel City team win 4:2 in the ninth round of the win2day ICE Hockey League, extending their winning streak to four games, while the Bruneck team suffer their first defeat after four consecutive victories – only for the second time this season.
In the tenth minute, Gaffal deflects a Söllinger shot to take the lead. Although Pustertal finds a quick answer through Fontaine (13th minute), Knott only needs 42 seconds to restore the lead.
The Outcome Becomes Clear
Until the first intermission, both teams squander high-calibre chances, but after the restart, Gaffal scores again with a rebound (24th minute).
This third goal is followed by a dominant phase from the hosts, but the Italians shorten the lead through Deluca (31st minute) against the run of play. Lebler (35th minute) quickly restores the previous advantage.
In the final phase, Knott (55th minute) also secures his brace and thereby seals the deal.
The Black Wings, now second in the standings, move within one point of HC Bozen, who, however, have played one game less. HC Pustertal remains stuck in sixth place, but still has the opportunity to move further up based on points lost.
