Swiss-Ski sees advantage in WC revolution: "Can bring added value"

Swiss Ski expresses positive view

However, he receives positive feedback from Switzerland. Swiss-Ski Co-CEO Diego Züger explains to "Blick": "The idea is absolutely worth examining, we are fundamentally open to it. We see it as an opportunity. We are not talking about doubling the number of World Championships. It would be one more World Championship in four years. If properly implemented, that can bring added value."

Some people fear that if the World Championship takes place more often, it will lose its attractiveness. The Swiss official does not deny this. He states that this is a negative point that must be considered. Nevertheless, one must "weigh the positive and negative points against each other."

Proper integration is essential

It is important that the World Championship is not integrated into the race calendar in isolation. "The most important thing is an overarching development and planning of the entire calendar, including the entire World Cup. This way, skiing can be offered as an attractive package to sponsors and TV rights holders," Züger emphasizes.

The Swiss official disagrees with implementing the World Championship revolution as early as 2028. He states that this is too short-term and would not bring any added value.
