ÖSV Speed Skier Announces Retirement

While other skiers are already preparing for the new season, another is hanging up his skis.

Christoph Krenn has announced his retirement after 33 World Cup and 82 European Cup races. The ÖSV announced this on its website on Tuesday.

The 32-year-old made his debut on December 27, 2016, in the Super-G in Santa Caterina and achieved 14 top-30 finishes in the highest competitive class.

He celebrated his best result in 2018 with a sixth-place finish in the Super-G in Beaver Creek.

Serious Crash in 2024

In the European Cup, he finished first twice and also made it to the podium 13 times. In 2024, he suffered a serious crash in a race.

"The injury in 2024, with the severe knee and nerve damage, was a drastic turning point. For a long time, it wasn't clear if I would be able to go through everyday life without pain again. To return to top-level competition, you have to be 100 percent ready, and it was always important for me to be honest with myself. That's why now is the right time to end my career," Krenn explained.

He now wants to focus on his studies, his health, and his future professional path.
