Marcel Hirscher is expected to make his comeback in the Alpine Ski World Cup in the upcoming season.
The 37-year-old, who is currently preparing in Ushuaia, Argentina (More Info>>>), needs a wildcard for this.
According to information from "SN", it is practically certain that he will receive one.
Only the organizational framework conditions are to be clarified this week at the FIS autumn meeting in Geneva (Switzerland). The decision is expected to be officially announced later this week. Hirscher will compete – as he did in 2024 – under the Dutch flag.

"After very good discussions with (the new FIS President) Alexander Ospelt and recent reactions from people like Alexandra Meissnitzer and Markus Waldner, we can be very optimistic that Marcel will initially compete regularly in World Cup races with wildcards," quotes Marcel Looze, Sports Director of the Dutch Ski Association.
Hirscher had already attempted a comeback in 2024, seven years after ending his career, but was only able to use three out of 20 wildcards.
In December of the same year, the eight-time overall World Cup winner suffered an anterior cruciate ligament tear.
Whether Hirscher will celebrate his comeback already at the season opener in Sölden is still uncertain.
