Annual Ski World Championships? Decision Made – For Now
FIS was considering plans to hold the title events annually in the future. Now the federation has made a decision – at least for the time being.
Recently, FIS plans to host an annual Ski World Championships (excluding years with Olympic Games) made headlines.

These plans are off the table for now, as the international federation has announced. There will be no Ski World Championships in 2028. FIS had commissioned a feasibility study which showed that the lead time for it was too short. The risk was particularly high regarding marketing.
Delayed, Not Abandoned
However, the idea is not being entirely abandoned: it will be examined whether the project will be implemented in the future, specifically from 2032 onwards.
FIS hopes this will generate more reach and additional economic opportunities.
The next regular Ski World Championships will take place next year in Crans-Montana.
