Confirmed! Decision made on Hirscher's wildcard
What had already been hinted at has now been made official.
Nothing seems to stand in the way of Marcel Hirscher's World Cup comeback next season!
What had already been indicated in recent weeks has now been decided by FIS at a Council meeting in Geneva: The Dutchman will receive a wildcard if he competes in the World Cup.
This means the Salzburg native, who won the overall World Cup eight times, could once again start with bib number 31.
Return is still open
Now, it's just up to Hirscher to get completely fit again. The now 37-year-old is still fighting his way back after a cruciate ligament tear, but is now back on snow.
Whether Hirscher can compete at the season opener in Sölden (October 24/25) is still open.
