Kraus (WTA-94) defeated Germany's Eva Bennemann (WTA-320) with a 6:1, 6:1 scoreline in a match lasting 1 hour and 4 minutes.
Both players broke serve directly in the first two games, after which Kraus secured every subsequent break. In the second set, Bennemann also never managed to hold her serve, only breaking Kraus once to make it 1:2. With her third match point, the 24-year-old advanced to the quarter-finals.
