Kitzbühel: Kraus Follows ÖTV Duo into Round of 16
After Julia Grabher and Ekaterina Perelygina, Sinja Kraus also advances to the Round of 16 at the WTA tournament in Kitzbühel.
The third Austrian player has also reached the second round at the WTA-125 tournament in Kitzbühel.
Sinja Kraus defeats Caijsa Wilda Hennemann (SWE) in two sets, 7:6 (3), 6:3, and, like Julia Grabher and Ekaterina Perelygina, advances to the Round of 16.
Similar to Monday, the players had trouble with their own serve – in the first set, both Austria's number three and the Swede conceded three breaks each. The Viennese player decisively won the tie-break 7:3.
Kraus Completes Straight-Sets Win
In the second set, Kraus dropped her serve in the very first game but immediately secured the rebreak. With the score at 3:2 for the Austrian, the world No. 94 broke her Swedish opponent, but Hennemann managed to rebreak.
After that, the 24-year-old was able to close out the match: The Viennese player broke the world No. 263 again and then served out for the win.
In the Round of 16, the ÖTV player will now face 18-year-old German Eva Bennemann (WTA 320), who defeated Anastasia Tikhonova (RUS) in two sets in the first round.
