Kitzbühel: ÖTV Youngster Perelygina out in Doubles Quarterfinals
The Russian-born player and her German partner lost in the Champions Tie-break.
ÖTV player Ekaterina Perelygina is out of the doubles quarter-finals in Kitzbühel.
The 19-year-old and her German partner Anna-Lena Friedsam (32) lost 6:7 (7), 6:1, 10:12 to the Spanish-Greek duo Despina Papamichail/Marina Bassols Ribera.
In the first set, Papamichail/Ribera fought their way back, taking a 6:5 lead after being 1:5 down. Friedsam/Perelygina leveled the score at 6:6, leading to a tie-break.
Tough Fight in the Champions Tie-break
There, the Austrian player and her German partner squandered three set points. Papamichail/Ribera broke serve and ultimately secured the first set 9:7.
The second set then went clearly 6:1 to Friedsam/Perelygina. In the Champions Tie-break, Papamichail/Ribera ultimately prevailed 12:10 in a tough fight to reach the semi-finals.
