New Opponent for Potapova at US Open Opener
Originally, the Austrian was supposed to face young Czech Tereza Valentova. Following an injury-related withdrawal, she will now meet a "Lucky Loser."
Anastasia Potapova will not play her opening match at the US Open against Tereza Valentová (WTA-57th) as planned.
The young Czech had to withdraw from the tournament at short notice due to injury. As a result, Potapova, seeded number 24 in New York, will face "Lucky Loser" Darja Semeņistaja in the first round on Tuesday (from 7:00 PM).
The Latvian thus moved into the main draw at the last minute. However, the world No. 109 in the WTA rankings is a clear underdog against the 25-year-old.
