Jurij Rodionov celebrates a successful start, defeating Mpetshi Perricard 7:6 (2), 6:0, 7:6 (4).

The first set against the man with one of the fastest serves on tour was completely balanced and saw no breaks. Both players were at a similar level on their first serves (61 to 63 percent) – Perricard hit three aces, while the ÖTV player managed two.

However, the Austrian's return qualities repeatedly caused problems for his opponent. This was also why Rodionov was able to prevail 7:2 in the tie-break of the first set. He benefited from an error by the Frenchman on the first set point.

Rodionov Pulls Away

The second set unfolded completely differently, with the 27-year-old not dropping a single game and thus dominantly winning the set 6:0.

Rodionov significantly improved his returns in this section. Additionally, Perricard's first serve worsened, with his percentage at 40 percent.

However, the world No. 105 didn't let up in set three, making Rodionov sweat again. As in the first set, there were no breaks in the third, with both players holding all their service games.

Rodionov had four match points at 6:5, but he couldn't convert any, allowing his opponent to level at 6:6. In the tie-break, however, the 27-year-old kept his nerve and won 7:4.
