Out in Round One: Kraus No Match for Muchova
The Austrian world number three loses against the world number seven in straight sets.
Sinja Kraus suffered an early exit in her US Open debut.
In her first main draw appearance, the ÖTV player (WTA-90th) lost 3:6, 0:6 against world number seven Karolina Muchova.
Initially, things went reasonably well for the 24-year-old, who won her first service game to level at 1-1. However, she subsequently conceded a break to fall 1-3 behind and ultimately lost the first set 3-6 after 35 minutes.
The second and final set proved more decisive – unfortunately, from an Austrian perspective. Kraus was ultimately "bagelled" and had to concede the set 0-6.
