The winner of the 2026 Erste Bank Open is Carlos Alcaraz!

The 23-year-old Spaniard prevailed on Sunday in the final of the ATP 500 hardcourt tournament in Vienna, defeating Alex de Minaur (AUS/ATP No. 10) 6:1, 6:4.

Alcaraz dictated play from the outset. He broke the Australian's serve in the very first game. Two more breaks followed in the first set, which ultimately went smoothly 6:1 to the seven-time Grand Slam champion.

In the second set, both players held their serves, until Alcaraz, at 5:4, turned a 0:30 deficit around and subsequently converted his first match point on his opponent's serve.

Alcaraz's Maiden Title in Austria

This marks Alcaraz's first title victory in Austria. Previously, the Spanish tennis superstar had only competed in Vienna in 2021, when he was eliminated in the semifinals by Alexander Zverev.

A clash with the new men's tennis world No. 1 would have been possible this year as well. De Minaur, however, prevented the dream final with his semifinal victory over Zverev on Saturday.

Even despite the final defeat, de Minaur can be pleased about an improvement in the ATP world rankings. He climbs from tenth to eighth place. Alcaraz remains third.
